Fishing in Kirksville

Spur Pond is located on Osteopathy Street in Kirksville is
stocked annually with 1400 trout by the city of Kirksville in
partnership with the Missouri Conservation Department.   The
pond is open on a catch and release basis until Jan. 31st.  From
Feb. 1st thru Oct. 31st the trout may be harvested up to four
trout a day.  Fishing licenses with a trout license are required.

Muskellunge, Bass, Catfish, and Crappie fishing
Hazel Creek Lake is located two miles west of highway 63 4
miles north of Kirksville.  The 530 acre lake contains
Largemouth bass (limit- 2 per day), Muskellunge (limit -1 per
day), Channel and Blue catfish (limit- 4 per day combined),
Crappie- (limit- 15 per day). Fishing license required.

Forest Lake at Thousand Hills State Park is located at 20431
State Highway 157, Kirksville.  The 573 acre lake sit is the
middle of the 3,080 acre state park.  Forest Lake contains
Largemouth bass (limit -6 per day), Walleye (limit-4 per day)
Channel Catfish (limit- 4 per day), Crappie (limit-20 per day).

Big Creek Conservation Area
Location:  one mile southwest of Kirksville off
Route H.

parking lots. No electricity or water or sewer is
available.  No unattended campfires allowed.  
Groups of 10 campers or more must obtain a
special use permit.  Stays are limited to 14
consecutive days in a 30 day period.  Walk-in
camping is allowed, EXCEPT during all firearms
deer and turkey seasons, when camping is only
allowed on or adjacent to all area parking lots.

Lake Road Village Park
Location:  23067 Potter Trail, Kirksville

22 campsites available.  All sites have 50/30/20
amp service, water and sewer available, basic
cable TV and laundry available. Private restrooms,
private showers provided.

Montgomery Woods Conservation Area
Location:  19 miles southwest of Kirksville on
Highway 11

Camping is allowed on or adjacent to all area
parking lots.  No electricity or water or sewer is
available.  No unattended campfires allowed.  
Groups of 10 or more must obtain a special use
permit.  Stays are limited to 14 consecutive days

when camping is only allowed on or adjacent to

Northeast Missouri Fairgrounds
Location:  2700 E. Illinois, (Highway 11 east),
Kirksville

electric hook ups.  Restroom and shower facilities
available.  Wheel chair accessible.

Shoemaker Conservation Area
Location: 7 miles north of Novinger near Route D

available.  No unattended campfires allowed.

permit. Stays are limited to 14 consecutive days

Sugar Creek Conservation Area
Location:  4 miles southwest of Kirksville on Hwy
11
