Kirksville AttractionsCultural Attractions![]() Cultural events such as Truman State University's Kohlenberg Lyceum Series bring world-renowned performances to Kirksville. In addition the university offers plays, concerts and recitals, and debates which are all open to the public. The Kirksville Arts Association hosts a free “Summer on the Square” concert each Friday night on the court house lawn June-August.
The Red Barn Arts and Crafts Festival in the fall draws national artisans,
and includes entertainment, children's activities and dance revues. Art
showings, summer concerts, music festivals, poetry readings, and an
occasional dinner theater add to the entertainment venue in Kirksville.
The Farmers Market offers fresh produce and locally
grown items every Saturday morning May-October.

Visit the birthplace of osteopathic medicine at the Still National Osteopathic Museum, relics of the past at the Adair County Historical Society Museum in downtown Kirksville, and the Historical Markers on the Court House Lawn. Recreational Attractions ![]() Sports enthusiasts, whether spectator or player, find Kirksville a sports haven. Kirksville Senior High School provides many opportunities for sports related programs. Collegiate sports help bring national recognition to Truman State University, with all events open to the public. Kirksville contains nine outstanding public park facilities. Parks include picnic shelters, wading pools, playground equipment, and ball fields. Rotary Park includes a disk golf course, an amphitheater and the Kirksville Aquatic Center. North Park complex includes 7 ball fields that host baseball and softball leagues, a skate board park, and batting cages. Swimming Pool Park includes 3 covered picnic shelters, sand volleyball, an outdoor stage, a snow sledding area, an ice skating area, 2 horse shoe pits, playground equipment, and a softball field. |
