Getting to Kirksville

Kirksville is located in north Missouri, and can be
reached by air, rail or highway.  The Kirksville Airport
accommodates commercial flights.  The Amtrak station is
only 12 miles south of Kirksville in La Plata Missouri. Two
passenger trains (eastbound and westbound
Southwest Chief), stop daily to board and drop off
passengers.  If you are driving to Kirksville travel on
newly four-lane Highway 63.   (map needed)

The cuisine in Kirksville varies from home-style cooking  
to upscale dining and suchi to barbeque.  Thirty-five
restaurants offer visitors a choice of dining to suit their
palates.

Century-old courthouse and town square
Kirksville’s downtown square offers 153 businesses
including Downtown Cinema 8, shopping, dining, and
museums.  The courthouse lawn hosts a free “Summer
on the Square” concert each Friday night of the
summer.  Farmers Market offers fresh produce and
locally grown items every Saturday morning from May
thru October.


Fishing
Great opportunities for fisherman are available in the
Kirksville area.  Catch trout at Spur Pond, muskellunge,
crappie and catfish at 530 acre Hazel Creek Lake and
catch bass, crappie and catfish at 530 acre Forest Lake
in Thousand Hills State Park. Contact the Missouri

Hunting
Large deer and turkey populations bring hunters from
all over the United States to hunt. Other hunting
opportunities dove, squirrel, quail and pheasant.  The
Kirksville area’s unique wildlife habitat allows for a
variety of wildlife.  Adair County includes 6 State

Golfing
Golfers can hit the links at a semi-private 18-hole
course.  The course includes a driving range, well

Parks
Kirksville contains nine outstanding public park facilities.  
Parks include picnic shelters, adding pools playground
equipment, soft ball fields.  Rotary Park include a disk
golf course, an amphitheater and the Kirksville Aquatic
Center with indoor and outdoor pools.  North Park
complex includes 7 ball fields, and batting cages.
